Update Number 2

CHEMOTHERAPY:  THE DEVIL'S IN THE DRUG

Carol was diagnosed with HER2, Stage 2B estrogen/progesterone negative breast cancer.

Her treatment course is 6 rounds of chemotherapy,
double mastectomy in the summer after chemo ends.  Herceptin every 3 weeks for a year.

She is on TCH chemotherapy: Taxol, Cytoxan and Herceptin.
She had her first round of chemo on March 21.  Her medicare did not initially cover the Zofran (antinausea) medication because of the cost of the drug.

She became very ill following chemo with nausea being the worst symptom.  She also had a very poor appetite.  Once the Zofran was approved she started feeling better.  She began eating soft foods and drinking lots of gatorade and water.

She lost her hair a week prior to her 2nd chemo round.  She is
facing the chemo treatments and her diagnosis with angel's wings.

Her attitude has been mostly upbeat.  She is facing financial hardships because of the cancer.  Her caretaker, my other sister, is caring for her.  She will return to work after Carol's surgery in the summer.

Carol received her last chemo on April 11 and so far so good.
She has been a little down but is meditating and praying a lot.

Her main concern is financial at the moment.

THERE IS A FUNDRAISER FOR HER EXTRA MEDICAL EXPENSES.

IT IS ON giveforward.com.
Carol's Breast Care Fund.

Carol lives on $750 a month social security disability checks.  Her extra medical expenses aren't covered by her disability and medicare monies.  Her needs are basically for wigs, turbans (head coverings) and for comfort items.

This isn't a warm and fuzzy story.  This is a real story about a woman's real battle with breast cancer.

This is a story of HOPE.  Hope for a complete healing.  Hope for a better financial future for her and my other sister.  Hope for a loved one's happiness.

Thank you for reading.

DAY NUMBER ONE

Today, my precious sister Carol
learned she had breast cancer.

Carol is a gentle soul
Her life has been battered but joy sprinkled into it also

She is the third girl of four
She has the laugh and singing voice of an angel

She is honest, faithful and loyal

Carol has been disabled
Her father inflicted abuse on her as a toddler
He threw her down a flight of stairs and broke her
small shoulder bones

As a child a car hit her
As a young adult she lost her beloved mother
to cancer

Carol is an avid reader.  She loves to paint.
She loves old movies.
She loves her beautiful little Shitzu

She only wants one day to go the London to
see where her ancestors came from

She has only one request to love and to be loved

She is a gentle soul
Full of love

Today, December 3, 2013 she was diagnosed with
breast cancer.
Her journey is just beginning.
Prayers are going up constantly

I love her dearly
I will hold her up to my Heavenly Father
I will hold her up in support.

I know that my Jesus can heal her.
I know that all things are possible with God.

Having stared down this evil beast before
brings back the harshness it can bring

This time.
This time I know that Carol will be all right
She is in good hands.
She is loved dearly.

She is my precious pink angel.
She will survive.

I will battle daily heaven for her.
I will battle the throne of grace for her.
I will bind every demon that tries to hurt her.
I will curse every curse that tries to cause her pain.
I will fight.
I will fight for her.
Because
I love her.

Please pray for Carol.
